The Covid pandemic had the Maybank Homes team putting their thinking caps on over the summer. We wanted to find a way for people to socialise safely during their stay our sister business Broadstairs Apartments We are now pleased to present a brand new communal outdoor space that the guests are loving already! In fact, we wish we’d thought of it sooner as it’s a great way spend some time outside away from the crowds.
This fun undertaking was a collaboration between Broadstairs Apartments and Maybank Homes owners Melissa and Steve Mayhew, digital marketing wizz Nathan Lee of Margate-based Harding-Lee Media and local Fine Art graduate artist Sara Jackson, Between them the team brought to the project a fantastic combination of passion for hospitality, sector-specific know-how and a beautifully creative eye.
So much more than just a patio space, this well-considered design, Broadstairs Apartments’ signature colours complement the seaside charm of the surrounding area. Sky-blue shiplap box-benches set off the luxurious granite floor tiles, softened with geometric-patterned woven rugs. The bench-backs are constructed using slimline horizontal wooden slats with pops of bright yellow to add to the cheerful ambience. The big ceramic pots planted up with Canary Island Palms give a natural feel too.
Not just for the daytime, the sociable space really comes into it own on a balmy evening, which Broadstairs often enjoys in the summer months. With warm after-dark lighting, it’s a great place for a sunset supper or even a cheeky nightcap when you get back from an evening out. What a cosy place to settle in to chat the evening away while you watch the stars twinkle above, stoking the glowing embers of a wood-burner.
With the new outside room ready in September this year, Broadstairs Apartments did not delay in unveiling it to coincide with the 2021 Macmillan coffee morning fundraiser. The very popular national tradition has been happening since 1990 and we were very pleased to be doing our bit this year. We laid on a delicious spread under the new shelter to raise money for Macmillan and our generous visitors all complemented us on the colourful and welcoming design!
